Tom Henslee

PARTNER

Tom's legal career migrated into the club law arena in 1989. Over the years, Tom had his own law firm focusing on club law as well as working as General Counsel, EVP, of ClubCorp. While the resume leads with a background in real estate and finance, Tom has worked in numerous areas ranging from corporate governance to litigation, member and guest matters to property sales and acquisitions, and pretty much every issue faced by small businesses in the hospitality industry. Tom was General Counsel of ClubCorp during its $1.5B sale in 2006, handled the refinance of all ClubCorp’s $600M in debt in 2003, and participated in numerous club acquisitions and sales. Tom's ability to balance the legal requirements with business sense makes him a highly sought after resource to club clientele.
 
The details include a Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Taxation from University of Southern California and a BBA(Accounting) from Southern Methodist University. He lives on a sustainable farm outside Asheboro, North Carolina with his wife Janice. They have more natural health and sustainable living information than two people should ever have, so be careful what questions you ask or you may not be able to eat or drink anything in the future.

RAND HUGUELY

PARTNER

Partner: Rand has over 20 years of experience in all areas of club and resort law, including employment, membership (documents, programs and disputes), management agreements and leases, operational agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, real estate and risk/liability management . Rand serves or has served as General Counsel for large club portfolio companies such as ClubCorp, American Golf, and Century Golf Partners, in addition to representing numerous developer-owned and member-owned clubs throughout the U.S. ​While at ClubCorp, he was a two-time recipient of ClubCorp’s “SuperSTAR Award,” a recognition of outstanding excellence and service. In 2006, Rand was honored to receive the “All STAR Award,” a specially created distinction to recognize his status as the first recipient of  three consecutive “SuperSTAR” awards. Rand has spoken at numerous conferences and seminars focusing on legal issues in the Club, Resort and Hospitality industries.  

 

Rand graduated from Vanderbilt Law School in 1996, and he holds a B.A. in History and Government from Western Kentucky University.  Sports, history and music are among his many interests. Rand lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife and two daughters.

Claire Klontz

PARTNER

Partner: Claire has 17 years of experience in multiple areas of club law, including a variety of membership matters (preparing and reviewing membership documentation, membership 
programming and membership disputes), operational matters, and acquisitions and divestitures. Claire served as Assistant General Counsel to both Century Golf Partners/Arnold Palmer Golf Management and American Golf Corporation from December 2014 through March 2020, in addition to representing other clients and clubs around the country. Claire 
served as in-house counsel at ClubCorp from May 2008 until December 2014, where she was a recipient of Clubcorp’s “SuperSTAR Award,” a recognition of outstanding excellence and service. Prior to that, Claire was a senior associate at Addison Law Firm in Dallas, Texas where she assisted in the 
representation of clubs, resorts, hotels and restaurants in connection with a wide range of operational and 
management matters, including liquor license matters, as well as acquisitions and divestitures. 

Claire graduated from The University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2001, and she holds a B.A. in 
English from Oklahoma City University. Claire lives in Southlake, Texas with her husband and three 
children.
